Carved from a single block of red sandstone, it rises approximately 7.3 meters high and weighs more than 20 tons, making it one of the largest monolithic sculptures in pre-Hispanic America.

The first monumental structure to command attention is the Akapana Pyramid, a massive stepped platform standing approximately 18 meters high.
